Zimbabwean-born, London-based DJ
Daphfinee has been announced as the first female Afro House DJ revealed
for _Inner Visions_, a forthcoming 16-artist compilation curated by Dr
Feel that brings together artists connected to Zimbabwe's evolving
electronic music scene.
Her contribution, 'Ubuya', produced in collaboration with Dr Feel, draws
on dark, driving ancestral rhythms to explore spiritual awakening,
anticipation and the power of what is yet to come.
Daphfinee's inclusion brings a woman's perspective to a project
showcasing the depth and diversity of Zimbabwean Afro House, while
connecting the country's electronic music community with a wider
international audience.
FROM ZIMBABWE TO THE INTERNATIONAL DANCEFLOOR
Based in London, Daphfinee has built an international performance
profile spanning the UK, Europe and Africa. Her credits include
appearances at venues such as Ibiza Rocks, Club 77, Studio 338,
Outernet, Ministry of Sound, KOKO and The Jazz Cafe.
Her performance experience also extends to brands and events including
Adidas, Everyday People and AfroNation, alongside appearances at
Zimbabwean festivals Dzoka Festival and Blow Out Festival.
Moving across House, Afro Tech and African electronic dance music,
Daphfinee brings an approach shaped by different audiences, club
environments and festival stages. Her work reflects the connections that
can develop between African musical influences and the international
dancefloor, without losing sight of the cultural roots that inform the
music.
Her participation in _Inner Visions_ brings that experience into a
Zimbabwean-led project at a time when the country's electronic music
artists are seeking greater recognition across Africa and beyond.
WOMEN AND THE FUTURE OF AFRO HOUSE
Women continue to contribute to the development of electronic music as
DJs, producers, curators and performers. Daphfinee's announcement offers
an opportunity to recognise that contribution within Zimbabwe's Afro
House community and to consider the range of perspectives shaping the
genre.
As a Zimbabwean-born artist working from London, her career also
reflects the movement of African talent across borders and the role that
international exposure can play in connecting artists with new
audiences.
Her place in _Inner Visions_ is significant not simply because she is
the first female Afro House DJ revealed for the compilation, but because
her contribution sits alongside a wider collective of artists exploring
the possibilities of Zimbabwean electronic music.
The project provides a platform for these artists to present their
individual sounds within a shared musical identity, helping listeners
discover the people and productions contributing to the scene's
development.
What's your hot take on this story?
ANCESTRAL RHYTHMS AND SPIRITUAL AWAKENING
At the centre of Daphfinee's contribution is 'Ubuya', a collaboration
with Dr Feel built around a dark, driving Afro-electronic sound.
The track's title carries a message of arrival. Its concept draws on
spiritual anticipation and the feeling that something powerful is
approaching, with ancestral rhythmic influences giving the production a
distinctive atmosphere.
A WIDER PLATFORM FOR ZIMBABWEAN AFRO HOUSE
Curated by Dr Feel, _Inner Visions_ brings together 16 artists connected
to Zimbabwe's Afro House movement. The forthcoming compilation is
scheduled for release through South African House label Mansa Musa
Records in November 2026, with further artist announcements expected
ahead of release.
The project seeks to bring greater attention to Zimbabwean electronic
music by placing its artists within a shared release while giving each
contribution room to express its own identity.
For Daphfinee, the collaboration connects her international performance
experience with a project rooted in Zimbabwe's musical community. For
_Inner Visions_, her participation adds a perspective that bridges the
country's Afro House scene with the wider international club circuit.
As the compilation's first female Afro House DJ reveal, Daphfinee's
announcement also draws attention to the women helping shape electronic
music and the importance of making their contributions visible as the
scene continues to evolve.
